Kawa started in year 2000 by singer / songwriter Mona Nordgaard, in
cooperation with Sven Terje Bang on computer programming and Ståle Staurseth on
bass. We wanted to mix live and electronic music in our own compositions. The
result is a record with mix of electronic and organic sound in a dub, pop, jazz
and reggae format.
Recording and production of what to become the Kawa debut album has taken
place at Borgen, in Dekodents studio in Bispegata 12, Oslo, Norway. A great
album, still available! You can get it at www.CDON.com or iTunes (You must
search for XAWA on iTunes. They don't seem to be able to get it right!!).
Kawa – moving on After a short break, Kawa is coming forward with
some new songs. Professor Bang & Mona is working with new material for
another record. We have so much music, so why hesitate ? We work it out and
bring it forward.
New song in Norwegian: The new song is called: “Kom aa vaer” –
check out the mastered mix on this page. It has Norwegian lyrics, but we still
hope that you who don’t understand Norwegian (that is most people) can
appreciate the music. Music talks all languages. Enjoy! Also check out the
new video in process for “Kom aa vaer” on this page. Bjørn Terje, who lives in
L.A., sent us his version of the great day we had in the woods. Taped in Oslo in
May this year. A whole lot of family and friends helped. Thank you everyone! The
Professor is now working with a final cut of the video that will be presented in
September. Then we also are ready to present more songs from Kawa.
New video - Kawa Live: We have a new live video from Kawas release
concert for the first album: “In Love We Trust”. This is the first time Kawa
plays live without the computer. It is all taped and recorded from a steady
camera by the mixer. Pretty good sound when you think about it. It’s jazz! :)
Kawa – the Band: Since we are working in a song writhing possess,
the live band Kawa is a sleeping beauty at the moment. However, the musicians
will come by the studio for some work and play. Putting down some of the tracks
and bring some flavour to the songs. We work it out as it comes along. We will
go where the wind blow this time. It is still growing, and as always, we think
it is really, really good!
Kawa – New Album: We are working with collecting songs to the next
album. It will be a mix of the big archive of ideas and new songs. The songs
will have both english and norwegian lyrics. |
