Recording and production of what to become the Kawa debut album has taken place at Borgen, in Dekodents studio in Bispegata 12, Oslo, Norway. Its been a continual process that started in the year 2000 when Mona Nordgård started the project together with Sven Terje Bang and Ståle Staurseth. The studio / rehearsal room has been financed through Mona Nordgaards Company, Dekodent Space Development and Sven Terje Bang has contributed with computers, sound system and knowledge. Together with Ståle Staurseth and other musicians in Kawa, we have spent several hours in the rehearsal room and in front of the mixer / computer. Final mixdowns were mastered at Strype Audio in 2005. The result is a mix of electronic and organic sound in a dub, pop, jazz and reggae format. Heavy beats, light arrangements, strong melodies, dynamic sound and groove. |

We have been selecting some of the best contributions from the musicians on the final mixes. Besides Mona Nordgård, Ståle Staurseth and Sven Terje Bang, we had Charlotte Walstad Nielsen on saxophone and Tove Andersen Younis on trumpet, making a difference to the sound. Also Wenke Simensen on percussions and Phil Aron Shield on guitar have been playing on recordings and concerts during 2003, 2004 and 2005. Dagfinn Ingebrigtsen helped out with computer programming and loops when Sven Terje was in New York. Other members / contributors in Kawa trough the years, in concerts and on recordings are: Chuck Frazier - guitar, Odd Gunnar Frøysland - guitar, Morten Brodahl - keyboards, Morten Urfjell - drums, Khalid Younis - bass and Ablai Jallow - Guitar. About the band.
We have released the album on own label trough Dekodent Space Development. We got distribution by MUDI, NAXOS NORWAY. The release of the album was at 7. August 2006. Friday 4. August we had a release consert at John Dee in Oslo with the new and strictly organic KAWA. It was great ! :-) We are at the moment trying to get some more conserts booked.
